Kathleen F. Kleiver, MSN, ARNP
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Kathy always wanted to be a nurse. She realized her dream and she has been working in the nursing field since 1973. Most of Kathy’s experience has been in emergency medicine, but in 1998 she completed her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been in family practice since then.
Family practice gives her the opportunity to care for individuals from all generations, from birth to grandparents. She enjoys getting to know her patients and their families, and she even cares for some four-generation families. Kathy believes that patients deserve the best care, need someone to listen attentively to their healthcare concerns and should always be afforded the utmost respect. Her expertise includes diabetes, hypertension and asthma treatment.
She received her diploma in Nursing from Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona and her bachelor’s and master’s in Nursing from Saint Martin’s College in Lacey, Washington. Kathryn A. Swartz, MSN, ARNP
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and
Women's Health Nurse Practitioner
Kate is currently on maternity leave. She had a healthy baby girl and will be returning to work in November. Nan Walker, MSN, ARNP is covering for her along with Bob, Kathy and Maddy.
Kate found her passion for nursing while working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Africa. There, she became a caregiver to her socially isolated neighbor and friend who was suffering from HIV/AIDS-related illnesses. The experience of caring for someone so vulnerable moved her to pursue a career in nursing. She was fascinated by the coupling of science and caring.
With board certifications in family practice and in women’s health, she chose family practice because it involves the full spectrum of care over the course of a lifetime. She chose women’s health because she also has a strong desire to empower and educate women about their health and wellness.
Kate’s experience has taught her the importance of listening to her patients. She sees herself as an advocate for patients, a good listener and a problemsolver. She believes that being intimately familiar with a patient’s history and family context are critical to providing great holistic caregiving.
