FamilyCare of Kent Nurse Practitioners
Shawna joined the FamilyCare of Kent practice in July of 2022. She became an RN in 1989 and worked in hospital based surgical care and telephone triage. She has been an NP since 1999, graduating from Drake University. She relocated from Iowa in 2005. Her background includes internal medicine, pulmonary and sleep medicine, and oncology, where she has spent the past 12 years. She has dual certification in family medicine and oncology. She will be sharing her time between patient care and as the clinic director.
In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 6 children. She can often be found watching baseball, football, or wrestling. She enjoys crafting, baking, listening to music, and spending time with her animals; dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and bees.
Faith Sairez
Faith started practicing at FamilyCare of Kent in July of 2022. She comes from a long family line of healthcare, as her parents and relatives own adult family homes. She became a CNA in 2008 and completed her RN, BSN in 2014. After working in a hospital-based cardiac/telemetry setting as an RN, she completed her DNP and NP program in 2021 at Seattle Pacific University. She initially worked at HealthPoint in Redmond, before joining our practice.
Outside of work, Faith enjoys hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, board games, baking bread, cats and PNW experiences.
Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Kristin Burns has been a family nurse practitioner (FNP) since 2019. She has expertise with teenagers, and women’s health. She is passionate about providing compassionate, informed primary care for the whole family.
She holds a master of science in nursing (MSN) from the Vanderbilt University and board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner. She also studied English and Spanish as an undergraduate student at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.

Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Cory Klein has been a family nurse practitioner (FNP) since 2020. She joined our practice after graduating with her Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree from Seattle Pacific University. She is board certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as an FNP.
She particularly enjoys taking care of diverse patient populations and strives to treat all patients with empathy, respect, and dignity. As a nurse, Cory has worked in level 2 trauma centers, specializing in Emergency Medicine as well as inpatient adult Hematology and Oncology management. In her free time, Cory enjoys traveling and volunteering on medical mission trips; her most recent trip provided medical aid at the Dominican and Haitian border.
She enjoys all that the Pacific Norwest has to offer, including hiking, backpacking, snowboarding, and walking her dog on the shores of the sound. Her approach to care is formed by her previous experience in caring for Oncology and Emergency patients— she believes strongly that all persons should have equal access to evidence-based, quality medical care, regardless of life circumstances, gender, and sexual orientation.
